Network Submissions
As a research unit we have a powerful voice for providing feedback to official processes in Aotearoa. When the opportunity arises, the steering committee will generate submissions for feedback on official documents such as the women’s health strategy. If the time is available, this will include feedback from the wider network.
Network members are involved in all sorts of professional channels and walks of life. If you are aware of a consultation process that falls within our capacity, please get in contact with the steering committee to discuss generating a response from the Menstrual Health Research Network.

The Steering Committee contributed a submission on behalf of the Menstrual Health Research Network to the Science System Advisory Group (ssag.org.nz), which was established by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment to review the science, innovation and technology system in Aotearoa New Zealand.
This process has been moving very quickly, so our submission was not able to have the full Network consultation process that we would have wished for. If you’d like to see the submission, please email the steering committee. We’ll keep watch for the second phase of consultation, and if you have thoughts or concerns that you would like the Network to raise, please let us know. -
The Women’s Health Strategy is one of the strategies required by the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures Act) 2022. The health strategies being developed share the vision of Pae Ora. This will be the first Women’s Health Strategy for Aotearoa New Zealand. It is a chance for Manatū Hauora – Ministry of Health to listen to women and understand what matters to them and supports their health and wellbeing. The Menstrual Health Research Network submitted a response to the Womens Health Strategy call. We appreciate the opportunity to contribute and acknowledge network support and members who gave feedback on the submission. The goal with our submission was to inform the new strategy about the Network and its aims, as well as to highlight some priority areas for menstrual health research, wellbeing needs, health system performance and priorities for change. We hope that our submission, alongside individuals and other groups will help drive change for menstrual health and wellbeing.
